September 26, 2014: India’s one of the greatest achievements in the field of science and technology – the success of Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) has instilled oodles of enthusiasm in the student community. Students across the country are deeply inspired by ISRO’s recent accomplishment and have started to look at opportunities in space research.
Another factor that came as a motivating force for students was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emotional speech praising ISRO scientists. Modi addressed Indian youth and said that students should embark on innovation and should not be afraid of risks.
Unnat Jain, a final year student of electrical engineering at IIT Kanpur, said he got goose bumps when he heard Modi’s speech. Jain added that our Prime Minister rightly said that India has dared to reach out into the unknown and will continue to achieve the impossible.
Rupak Thakur, a final year engineering student from IIT Kharagpur, said that Narendra Modi emphasised on global companies to come and manufacture in India earlier, this achievement csn draw spacecraft manufacturers to eye India as a key market.
Modi’s speech also struck a chord with school students. Hridayesh Lal, a class 10 student of Ryan International School, New Delhi said that now he is inspired to explore space research and aims high of becoming a part of such a mission one day.
